“Cultural plan: ongoing implementation in 2019, for the first time in its history, greater akron engaged in a citywide cultural planning process with goals to strengthen the city, advance cultural diversity, increase opportunities to create culture, and provide vibrant experiences for all akron residents. With implementation of the ten priorities underway, artsnow is very focused on advancing the plan and ensuring the investment of our residents is fully realized. Artsnow has been focusing on three key areas of the cultural plan: -inclusion, equity, and access (priorities 1 & 2): we believe that people of all ages, races, genders, orientations, religions, abilities, means, and backgrounds must have access to and participate in the making of a thriving cultural scene. We worked to advance efforts that maximize access to cultural experiences so all akron residents and visitors feel like valued guests and welcomed creators of art and culture. -explore the financial strength of the cultural sector (priority 6): a healthy cultural sector requires sustainable funding sources in order to maximize its potential for community impact. A comprehensive assessment of sustainable funding models must be created in order to determine an appropriate path forward to fully realize that impact. This assessment should objectively examine the current financial health of the sector, its current and potential economic impact, and assess the capacities and priorities of the philanthropic, business, and public sectors. -ensuring talent is support in summit county (priority 4). Artsnow hosted over 15 events and 600 attendees from across our arts and culture sector. 48% of attendees who participated were first-time artsnow workshop participants and 100% were very satisfied with the content offerings from artsnow in the realm of talent support. Examples of cultural plan implementation -launch of akron black artist guild -collaboration among summit dd, akron-summit county public library, direction home, and tri-county independent living center to advance the accessibility library. -founding and launch of deia advisory board for arts and culture, summit county. -support the implementation of the city of akron's plan for public art and public art commission. -professional development/support for artists as entrepreneurs, for-profit arts and culture business, and nonprofits of all sizes. The implementation plan involves the following steps: 1)plan for action 2)engage 3)work toward specific priorities (resource leaders, key change makers, supporters) 4)advocate 5)resource”

“The organization underwent a financial review by an independent certified public accounting firm for the fiscal year and as a result of that financial review the statement of financial position at june 30, 2020 was adjusted by 133,731.”
“The preparation of financial statements in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america requires the organization to report information regarding its exposure to various tax positions taken by the organization. The organization has determined whether any tax positions have met the recognition threshold and has measured the organization's exposure to those tax positions. Management believes that the organization has adequately addressed all relevant tax positions and that there are no unrecorded tax liabilities. Federal and state tax authorities generally have the right to examine and audit the previous three years of tax returns filed. If incurred, the organization records tax related penalties and interest as management and general costs in the accompanying statements of activities and changes in net assets and functional expenses. However, the organization incurred no tax related penalties or interest in 2021.”
