Together with partners from the public and private sector, achieve miami brings together, designs, and manages programs that bring together members from various parts of the community to extend learning opportunities for students, teachers and education leaders. Achieve miami inc. Is a florida 501 c 3 non-profit organization that develops and manages programs that increase educational equity in miami. The organization identifies children growing up in poverty and connects them to innovative learning opportunities. We attract, develop, and mobilize talented leaders of all ages and backgrounds to serve these students in a way that creates social change. Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Our programs are community-based in partnership with three elementary sites and one k-8 site, engage over 1,000 students, and extend learning by over 135 hours annually. The achieve summer program is an innovative, values- based six-week summer program that provides high-quality instruction to students and meaningful professional development to teachers. Achieve summer empowers students and teachers to improve educational outcomes by creating a space for educational innovation through project-based learning, curriculum development, values-oriented leadership, and mentoring. In the summer of 2019, over 400 rising 1st through 6th graders at four sites, who would not normally have attended an academic summer program, engaged in rigorous and meaningful instruction and mentoring five days a week in achieve summer program. Also in the summer of 2019, 100 rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders from the urban core of miami came together to engage in a college readiness program with individually responsive online curriculum for college prep. All students in achieve summer received two healthy meals per daily, engaged in four hours of academic instruction with certified teachers and participated in mentoring and enrichment activities focused on health, wellness, and literacy. The 25 teachers involved in achieve summer received targeted and robust professional development focused on developing proficiency in transferrable teaching skills. 100% of teachers agreed that they developed high impact skills that they can readily apply in their full school year setting. At the achieve saturdays program students are engaged 16 saturdays a school year. Students participate in a unique community service component that brings together high school students from across miami as role models to assist elementary school students in literacy, problem solving, and team building activities. Together with their teen mentors, students read, write, make and take healthy snacks, and try their hands at sports and arts activities. Students receive one-on-one mentoring, and over the course of the year, over 6,000 books are sent home to build home libraries. The up music program aims to provide elementary school students with access to high quality music education with an emphasis on music theory, creation, and performance. Up music operates programming at three elementary schools and provides programming five days a week to students grades 2-4. Each site engages mdcps music teachers as instructors. Instruction is focused on music theory, vocal and percussive instruments with an emphasis on performance. Each week, students perform for their families at a music meal. Up music seeks to create a scalable model for after school programming in music which can support mdcps programs in the immediate and long term.
