Mission and Program Overview

Mission

District Montessori is an educational organization committed both to enriching the lives of children and to supporting parents in the District of Columbia using the Montessori method of instruction. Our mission is to create a supportive educational environment for toddlers to explore freely using the Montessori Method of instruction; to empower parents in our community; and to help families nurture beneficial habits during the formative toddler years and beyond. We seek to close the gap between families who can afford to pay for enrichment activities for their children and those who cannot. An "achievement gap" in many skills is evident when children begin school, and the gap often continues--or even widens--as children progress through elementary and secondary school. We believe all children have unlimited potential, and we seek to nurture this potential and enhance opportunities by offering a quality and accessible Montessori enrichment program for young children.
