IRS990ScheduleF/AccountActivitiesOutsideUSGrp/SpecificServicesProvidedTxt0PTP INCREASES THE INCOME OF AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITIES BY FACILITATING A SHORT-TERM JOB EXCHANGE PROGRAM WITH U.S. AGRIBUSINESSES AND BY STRENGTHENING LOCAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP. THE JOB EXCHANGE PROGRAM ENABLES FARMERS THAT EARN $2 A DAY IN HAITI TO EARN UP TO $20,000 IN A FEW MONTHS' TIME. SINCE 2015, PTP HAS FACILITATED THE SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT OF 104 HAITIAN FARMERS, RESULTING IN $1 MILLION IN DIRECT FINANCIAL TRANSFERS BACK TO HAITI. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS HAVE USED THE INCOME THEY'VE EARNED TO BUY NEW LAND, DEVELOP NEW BUSINESSES, BUILD HOUSES, AND SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. PTP WORKS WITH FARMER ASSOCIATIONS ON BUSINESS ACCELERATION, ENABLING FARM WORKERS TO USE REMITTANCES, MICROFINANCE AND TRAINING TO INVEST IN NEW SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES. PTP HAITI ALSO SUPPORTS COMMUNITY SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, AND THE PROMOTION OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY.
