Form 990, Page 2, Line 4A - Program Service Accomplishment

Connected communities has been serving as a convener, bringing together community members, neighborhood groups and service providers, city partners, and national resources through the purpose built communities network. Together, as partners in the rmapi effort, these groups are committed to holistic community revitalization that breaks down intergenerational poverty and creates opportunities for all residents. Connected communities' work has brought added capacity and focus to ongoing efforts to transform emma and beechwood. In the past five years alone, the neighborhoods have demonstrated the ability to raise funds, participate in critical studies, undertake grassroots community-led projects, engage with local schools, and coordinate the city and development partners on catalytic investments that increase quality affordable housing options in the area and retrofit major roadways to be safer for pedestrians and cyclists. But there is more to be done. Our focus for 2020 was to initiate the finalized plan for the emma and beechwood neighborhoods. This plan builds upon the ongoing efforts of the city and local organizations, prior studies and planning initiatives, a network of strong partnerships, and trusted relationships cultivated over time with and among community members.

CONNECTED COMMUNITIES' WORK HAS BROUGHT ADDED CAPACITY AND FOCUS TO ONGOING EFFORTS TO TRANSFORM EMMA AND BEECHWOOD. IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS ALONE, THE NEIGHBORHOODS HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE ABILITY TO RAISE FUNDS, PARTICIPATE IN CRITICAL STUDIES, UNDERTAKE GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY-LED PROJECTS, ENGAGE WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS, AND COORDINATE THE CITY AND DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS ON CATALYTIC INVESTMENTS THAT INCREASE QUALITY AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPTIONS IN THE AREA AND RETROFIT MAJOR ROADWAYS TO BE SAFER FOR PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS.
