“Escuelas hermanas partnered with local people in guatemala to build the only area high school, and only one of three in the region, during 2016. Escuelas hermanas provided the capital, the town furnished the land, and the community provided the labor. Twenty-one scholarships were provided including transportation, uniforms, and other school supplies to enable children to attend school rather than work in the fields. Food was also supplemented to their families. Tutoring is also provided. The local's first language is a mayan dialect, but guatemala's official language is spanish. So spanish tutoring is provided in order for the students to be successful in school.”
