Mission and Program Overview

Mission

At civic hall labs, we collaboratively design and develop technology pilots that have measurable impact and the potential to scale. We believe that 21st century digital tools have tremendous potential to advance the public good when designed, developed, and implemented through inclusive processes that allow sector experts, the public, government, and philanthropy to collaborate with data scientists, designers, and developers. Currently, our work is organized into three core programs: issue-focused labs, civicxcel, and open infrastructure.

Civic hall labs is dedicated to the application of technology for the public good. In 2015, civic hall labs was founded and completed a strategic visioning process among the founding team. In its few operational months in 2015, civic hall labs performed a number of program building activities. Each program started in 2015 was created with an eye toward building knowledge and organizational infrastructure that could serve civic hall labs in 2016--its first full operational year--and beyond.
