Mission and Program Overview

Mission

BUDDY'S HELPERS NFP is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3)of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986(or the corresponding provision of any future United States Interal Revenue law). More specifically, the purpose of the corporation is to organize and undertake events that will involve Illinois high school students in community service programs and projects.

Current and former Showdown athletes will be in attendance to surprise the coach. Female student athletes were featured on different Chicago morning shows, focusing on lifesize player posters shot by a Sports Illustrated photographer. Boys lifesize player poster shoot.LIVE morning show interview with PepsiCo alum talking about an upcoming surprise delivery to children in Englewood thanks to 1000s of in-kind donations collected at the PersiCo Showdown Girls Community Showcase in honor of National Friendship Day.In honor of National Parents Day, local parent surprised.Transfers to girls soccer account and general soccer.$20,960-
College Showcase Boys: Public and private schools from the city and suburbs came together to compete and win checks for their favorite local community-based charities. In total, 93 different colleges registered for the event to once again provide opportunities for students to attend college. Off the field, student athletes filled semi-trucs with sweatshirts to bring attention to teen suicide. Sweatshirts a part of large delivery to West Side Homeless Shelter.Connor McGregor surprises student athletes at school and during Cubs event and a school in Miami to honor and thank students for their community service.Transfers to boys soccer account and general soccer.$16,835-
Random acts of kindness week..student athletes from city and suburbs went into their communities to perform random acts of kindness in the same amount of time it takes to play one game. Coverage:ABC, NBC, WGN, Univision, WBBM-AM. $200 donation made to youth outreach services. $164.25 purchase made for bakery items. $500 paid to provide five CPS teams with money to use for random acts of kindness day in lower income communities.Making a difference award: Latino student athlete from Thornton was surprised at his dad's tire shop in Hazel Crest and honored for making on and off the field. His parents have credited the event for helping open the doors to college for their son. Surprise donation: Grow Chicago: Organization based in Englewood. Student athletes have donated money, books, and other educational supplies to I Grow Chicago since 2019. Pizza party, $250 to pay. Indoor Exposure Event: Held Super Bowl Sunday, payment of event and officials delayed to July bucause funding delay from Pepsico Foundation.$11,367-

Off the field student athletes filled semi trucks with children's books, board games, and sweatshirts, which will be a part of surprise deliveries by student athletes to rebuild Chicago Public SChool elementary library. A donation to a low income senior center in Cook County, and a donation to a west side homeless shelter. Along with that each student athlete helped build new bikes and scooters for little boys and girls throughout Chicago. Military Bike Delivery: 4 year old boy and 11 year old girl in Maywood featuring student athlets from Saint Viator, Lyons, Proviso East, Solorio. Making a Difference Award: In honor of national volunteer week, two Chicago CPS students from Solorio Academey on Chicago's South Side were honored and surprised for going above and beyond to help enchance the life's of others. The senior duo which will become first generation college students this fall when they attend Northwestern University and Saint Xavier University recieved checks to donate to their favorite loval community based charities and tickets to see their favorite Chicago sports team. Military bike delivery: 4 year old girls and 11 year old boy in Gage Park featuring student athletes from various Chicago area high schools. Charity check deliveries: Ongoing as girls teams recieved checks to give to charity for winning during the girls showcase. Paid additional expense for Soccer Showdown event.$8,794-

Earlier this spring, student athletes held a press conference talking about the lack of facilities and equipment they have.Military Bike Deliveries: Featuring student athletes from Metea Valley, Conant, Young, Pritzker, Trinity. National Bike Month and National Military Appreciation Month.
