“2019 accomplishments: cga's 2019 program accomplishments: clemente program cga offered the clemente course for the humanities, a college course accredited by bard college, in two of georgia's state prisons (one female, one male) in 2019, cga opened an additional program in downtown atlanta for students who have returned after having been incarcerated in 2019, groundwork was laid for a 2020 opening of an additional clemente course program in a third state prison in georgia courses included: literature, art history, philosophy, history, and writing approximately 80 individuals participated in the clemente course programs during 2019 three incarcerated students graduated from the program with others continuing to work toward graduation cga with georgia state university cga serves as the community partner for a program in one of georgia's long-term state prisons in which the participants are officially enrolled as georgia state university students in 2019, 18 incarcerated individuals participated in this program taking accredited college level courses earning georgia state university credits awards: governor's award for the arts and humanities, 2019 georgia humanities grant, 2019 finalist for civic impact award, center for civic innovation, 2019 finalist for american civic collaboration award, national conference on citizenship, 2019 events: invited speakers at georgia state university's zoukis conference for criminal justice reform, along with two of the released students from the program, 2019 honored at atlanta bookshop's 30th anniversary event, avondale towne cinema, 2019 (all proceeds from event were donated to cga), 2019 hosted more than 50 undergraduate students for combined classes inside the prison, 2019 publications: 'we are the plot': teaching humanities inside georgia's prisons," sarah higinbotham, atlanta journal constitution, july 2019 'no fractions': math in prison for the common good," sacad nour, noe martinez, dave evans, john bell, and sarah higinbotham, mathematical outreach, world scientific publishing, 2019”
