Students who participate in Technic are able to leave their regular school site and go to the Technic facility during the school day. School partners commit to provide high school credit, allow access for participation, collaborate on activities, and coordinate transportation for students to Technic during the school day. Youth participants accomplish approximately 150 hours of on site training time each semester at Technic. Credits offered are confirmed by the school partner and are aligned with their students' academic needs. At Technic we seek to tailor our training activities to help the school program achieve certain credit offerings For example, with Lynden High school, their students earn an elective Career and Technical education credit and with our most recent group, an applied math credit. Technic Training Center students are also able to earn relevant industry certifications such a a credential from the Woodwork Career Alliance. During its training activities, Technic Training Center has identified the goal for student participants to take part in community manufacturing projects during their training experience. As a win-win opportunity for learners and the local community, Technic students partner with community businesses and service organizations that have a genuine product need. Technic students complete the design, manufacture, and delivery of a needed product. Partnering organizations share in the expense of producing a project by providing financially for the costs of that product. During completion of community projects, student participants develop competency in a numerous variety of skills in order to execute its production including tool and machinery operations, utilizing plans and blueprints, material optimization, mass production, cost analysis, advanced manufacturing, and customer service. Students experience having a real world customer with real quality expectations. They also experience the pride and satisfaction of knowing their lasting work will impact the lives of others. Community manufacturing projects allow Technic Training Center the opportunity to generate program income that offset operating expenses of the non-profit training organization. Any funds generated by Technic during the completion of a community manufacturing project are utilized in the philanthropic mission of the Techni Training Center non-profit organization. Key Community Manufacturing Project Steps: 1) Organizations share a product need or concept with Technic Training Center. 2) Technic leader identify training objectives and needs connected to the manufacturing project. 3) Organizations confirm project participation, product concept. and materials. 4) With leader support, Technic participants develop final product design and specifications. 5) Organizations confirm final product design and specifications. 6) Technic provides the partnering organization a fair market value product quote. 7) Organizations confirm and authorize product quote and purchase order terms. 8) Organizations place a purchase order with Technic Training Center. 9) Technic invoices participating organization for costs of product manufacture. 10) Technic Training Center participants complete manufacture and delivery of the needed product. As a key example of the initiative and approved by the Superintendent of Lynden School District in spring of 2017, Technic students manufactures 250 bookcases for Fisher Elementary School in Lynden. Following that accomplishment, in spring 2018, Technic student manufactured 140 bookcases for the new Lynden Middle School located on Line Rd. in Lynden. Along with those book cases, Technic students are also manufacturing furniture such as workbenches and tables to outfit the brand new woodshop classroom at Lynden Middle School. IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt0During each year over the first five years of its existence, Technic Training Center has sought to purse a bona fide and continuous solicitation of funds and resources from individuals, businesses, foundations, and public charities. Donors to the Technic organization have included contributions from local individuals, commercial cabinetry businesses, door manufacturers, wood millwork businesses, construction companies, service clubs, tool and machinery manufacturers, banks, and nearby foundations. As part of this funding program, Technic Training Center has intentionally sought to develop connection with organizations in its local community within the local wood products and manufacturing industries. Technic has also sought financial support from local service organizations that see value in the offering of its program to local high school aged students. These fundraising activities have helped Technic Training Center accomplish a key part of its mission to transition local students into local job and careers well trained. Pursuit of funding from various organizations has helped Technic develop relationships with employers in its local area that can hire graduating students and provide them meaningful career opportunities in their future. Thus far as of Fall 2021, Technic Training Center has seen 47 graduating participants hired at 16 different local businesses as a result of their training at Technic. This effort in the solicitation of funds and resources have provided Technic Training Center with key financial and material resources that have enabled it to offer its career and technical training program to youth in its region of service. All funds generated through the solicitation of funds are used to directly support training activities. Some key highlights of resources that have been acquired through this financial support include: -Purchase of supplies and materials, such as plywood and hardware, needed by students over the completion of core learning projects produced during their hands-on training. -Direct donations of machinery utilized in the workplace to enable training with real world machinery and manufacturing processes, such as the recently acquired wood planer. -Provision for the purchase a Dust Collection System to manage dust and small particles created during the operation of machines and equipment, providing a safe and clean training environment. -Operational insurance for a youth serving program and fire system monitoring. Technic has also generated financial support from the sale of products produced by the training activities at Technic Training Center directly to community customers. All funds generated through training activities are used to directly support training activities. The effort for the solicitation of funds has thus far provided for the yearly needs over the existence of the organization, however more funding needs to be acquired for the financial health of the organization in the pursuit of its activities, while also allowing Technic Training Center to meet the threshold of a publicly supported organization as detailed in Schedule A of IRS Form 990. Along with continued support from local business entities and community project opportunities, Technic will seek to grow its contributions from local individuals in order to garner a larger pool of support, also including alumni participants and their families. Areas that Technic will pursue to generate financial support will include: -Direct support requests to individuals through in-person visits, online campaigns, and voice-to-voice phone contact contacts. -Specifically hosted fundraising events. -Increased grant requests from additional foundations and organizations in a larger region of northwest Washington and national programs. Pursued by the boards of directors of Technic Training Center from the creation of the nonprofit organization, all operations of the organization have sought to provide a genuine community service through the offe
