“To bring professional productions of classic plays, accompanied by music,to culturally underserved audiences throughout oregon. We visit prisons, jails, assisted living facilities, rural schools, and community centers among others.”
“We provided many zoom/virtual disccusions around classical theatric texts. This included virtual conversations about many texts, particularly follow- up from our production of "antigone", and new discussions about shakespeare's "pericles". These were held in prisons,jails,half-way houses, shelters, and in rural communities. These discussions were also aided with printed packet materials which were written and distributed by nctc.”
“Activities we did to build new projects included interviewing 12 female refugee/asylum seekers from 11 different countries. These interviews are being combined with the text of euripides' "the trojan women- and will be called "displaced persons". There was some digital development work on the script as well as the interviews themselves. To do this project nctc partnered with portland meet portland, a non-profit that has been working with the refugee community for 20+ years.”
