Mission and Program Overview
Mission
The democracy initiative is a 501(c)(4) organization leading a coalition that is working toward a bright future in which all americans participate fully and freely in the democratic process. Launched in 2013, the democracy initiative's mission is to build a powerful and diverse democracy movement to enhance voting rights and blunt the huge influence of corporate money flooding our political system.
Di is a non-profit corporation and shall be operated exclusively for the purpose of promoting social welfare within the meaning of section 501(c)(4) of the internal revenue code. Di shall coordinate activities in support of and provide aid for efforts to enhance political equality and democratic rights in the united states, including issues involving the protection and expansion of voting rights, the removal of the corrupting influence of corporate money in politics, and structural obstacles to democratic reforms.
