“The form 990 will be reviewed by the board (specifically the treasurer and chairman) and by the volunteer bookkeeper. Once the board reviews and approves it, the return will be signed and filed with the irs.”
“When considering the salaries that will be offered to our employees, the board and management do seek comparable data from employer websites and internet searches. We have not contacted independent persons to discuss salaries. That said, the three employees of rescuing hope are paid below- market wages. Thankfully these three have been willing to take a reduced salary out of a passion for this cause, but compensation is an issue that will need to be addressed as rescuing hope looks to hire an executive director or director of development in the near future.”

“The governing documents are available on the organization's website.”
“Enlightenment: covid-19 had a negative impact on our ability to reach out to people, but we were able to shift gears to offer virtual enlightenment events and ended the year having hosted 30 events and reaching 1,609 people. This was down from 42 events and 3,179 people in 2019. Rescuing hope attended grace commission awareness events at the capitol, continued to participate in the georgia statewide human trafficking task force, hosted book club discussions with students, and spoke to numerous groups throughout cobb county and the greater atlanta area. In addition, we made progress on our blanket cobb county initiative and began building relationships with social workers in the cobb county school system that we expect will lead to relationships within other county social service programs.”
“Educate: covid-19 had a negative impact on our ability to reach out to people, but we were able to shift gears to offer virtual education events and ended the year having hosted 14 events and reaching 596 people. We had originally planned to launch a pilot of the fully digital 6th grade curriculum at the marietta 6th grade academy in the fall of 2020. Due to covid-19, that launch date was pushed back to march/april 2021. In addition, we made further progress on expanding the digital curriculum to include content for both 6th and 7th graders. This curriculum will educate middle school children about the facts surrounding sex trafficking. In addition to the digital curriculum for students, rescuing hope provided training courses to first responders including members of the cobb fire department, physicians affiliated with wellstar, nurses affiliated with the ksu nursing association, cobb county school social workers, and medical students.”
“Empower: we experienced turnover with our case worker and hired a new case worker in february 2020. She worked closely with our team to enhance the services and support we provide our survivors, with a focus on providing survivors with the skills to become increasingly independent and successful on their own. The marie mcclanahan education and empowerment fund, created to assist survivors in gaining the skills needed to earn a livable wage, was used to cover 2,000 in tuition for a survivor to attend the georgia trade school. Susan, chunquanda and mallory interacted with survivors on a weekly basis, in addition to hosting survivor dinners each month to bring the survivors together, providing free group therapy sessions each month, giving survivors and their children gifts on valentines day, easter, and christmas, and providing survivors with aaa roadside assistance, financial assistance, and grocery & gas gift cards as needs arose.”
