Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Income taxes the corporation is exempt from income taxes under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) and applicable iowa statutes, except to the extent it has taxable income from activities that are not related to its exempt purpose. Management believes the corporation does not have any unrelated business income. The corporation controls park place housing llc which is disregarded for income tax purposes. The llc is consolidated in the corporation nonprofit income tax return. The corporation believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The corporation would recognize future interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax liabilities in income tax expense if such interest and penalties are incurred. The corporation and its affiliate are not currently under examination by any taxing jurisdiction. Federal and state tax authorities generally have the right to examine returns for the current and three previous years.

THE LLC IS CONSOLIDATED IN THE CORPORATION NONPROFIT INCOME TAX RETURN. THE CORPORATION BELIEVES THAT IT HAS APPROPRIATE SUPPORT FOR ANY TAX POSITIONS TAKEN, AND AS SUCH, DOES NOT HAVE ANY UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS THAT ARE MATERIAL TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. THE CORPORATION WOULD RECOGNIZE FUTURE INTEREST AND PENALTIES RELATED TO UNRECOGNIZED TAX LIABILITIES IN INCOME TAX EXPENSE IF SUCH INTEREST AND PENALTIES ARE INCURRED. THE CORPORATION AND ITS AFFILIATE ARE NOT CURRENTLY UNDER EXAMINATION BY ANY TAXING JURISDICTION.
