At Imani Learning and Leadership, LLC we believe that education that only focuses on setting high expectation is not enough to move children, especially boys of color into position for success. We feel that you must couple high expectations with high-quality educational experiences. These must include hands-on education opportunities that are real and relevant. These learning opportunities should be grounded in practices that focus on relevancy to real-life for the learner. The former National Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said it best, Education is the civil rights issue of our generation. And if care about promoting opportunity and reducing inequality, the classroom is the place to start. Great teaching is about so much more than education it is a daily fight for social justice.
