Mission

To promote economic development in dickinson county by attracting new industries and retaining existing businesses while enhancing and improving the quality of life for businesses, residents and visitors.

The purpose dickinson county economic development corporation is to further the economic development of dickinson county, kansas by promoting and assisting the growth and development of business and industry; as well as addressing all business concerns within dickinson county.

Of the 21 board members eligible per the by-laws, 10 are from the public sector and 11 from the private sector. The public sector members are appointed by city commission and private sector members are asked to fill out a questionnaire along with a letter of intent. The full board reviews the private sector respondents and a full board vote is made to appoint someone.

The executive director is responsible for the timely preparation of the form 990. The executive director may confer with accountants and legal counsel with respect to drafts of the form 990 and the executive diretor or other authorized officers of the organization shall sign the final form. A copy of the form 990 is distributed to the governing body prior to filing is feasible, otherwise, a copy of the filed form 990 is circulated to the governing body as promptly as reasonably practical after the filing.

Each new responsible person (an officer, employee or member of the board of directors) is required to review a copy of the conflict of interest policy and acknowledge in writing that he or she has done so. Annually, each new responsible person must complete a disclosure form identifying any relationships, positions, or circumstances which could contribute to a conflict of interest arising. Any responsible person with a conflict of interest shall not be involved in any discussions regarding contracts or transactions involving a conflict of interest.
