“The team created a program called artist residency program and looked for south florida artists who are passionate about using their art to advance social justice and who seek to accompany the communities that community justice project supports. With this residency program, they hope to find those artists who believe, as we do, that grassroots organizing and social movements are central to social change and we must use the tools we have at our disposal to support them. The ideal candidate will have a passion and willingness to support these movements and will struggle with us to engage and amplify their voices. In federal court on april 29, advancement project national office, community justice project, inc., civil rights corps, gst llp, dla piper and dream defenders, won an order for miamis metro west detention center to follow the center for disease controls (cdc) health guidelines for the next 45 days. This preliminary injunction comes after the groups won a temporary restraining order against miami-dade department of corrections on april 7, requiring metro west detention center to provide basic sanitizing items to the almost 2,000 people confined there, to protect vulnerable people inside the jail. In federal court, advancement project national office, community justice project, civil rights corps, gst llp, and dream defenders, filed a lawsuit against miami department of corrections calling for the release of vulnerable people inside the citys jail and arguing that miamis metro west detention center is risking the lives of everyone inside because of their deliberate indifference illustrated by their failure to respond to the threat of covid-19.this lawsuit seeks the immediate release of all medically vulnerable people from the metro west detention center who are solely detained because they cannot afford cash bail. For those who remain in the jail, the lawsuit asks a federal judge to order the city of miami and metro west jail to immediately adopt the comprehensive measures outlined by the center for disease control to protect the safety and health of those people inside the jail.”
“The organization has adopted the provision of asc no. 740. "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes" ("asc no. 740"). Asc 740 required that the impact of tax positions to be recognized in the financial statement if they are more likely than not of being sustained upon examination. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is made in the financial statements. At 12/31/2020, there were no uncertain tax positions. The organization files tax returns with us federal and other tax authorities for which statute limitations may go back to the year end 2017.”

FOR THOSE WHO REMAIN IN THE JAIL, THE LAWSUIT ASKS A FEDERAL JUDGE TO ORDER THE CITY OF MIAMI AND METRO WEST JAIL TO IMMEDIATELY ADOPT THE COMPREHENSIVE MEASURES OUTLINED BY THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL TO PROTECT THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF THOSE PEOPLE INSIDE THE JAIL. |
