To help create an ecological civilization, that is, to promote a way of life that will bring us into a more harmonious felationship to teh natural and social worlds of which we are a part.

We estimate that we established or furthered working relationships with roughly 100 organizations in Los Angeles County during 2016, including NGO, academic, and government institutions.Created a broad range of transdisciplinary content, including art and design content, and added significantly to the website for educational purposes. We estimate that at least 2,500 online users were meaningfully served, with a far greater number of visitors.Built a strong media presence for the purpose of educating our community on key issues, and communicating about our own and other important events. An education and communications initiative with practival, on-the-ground impact, we wholly conceived this entirely new initiative and we created the educational and community programs within it, bringing together multiple partners for the following initiatives:- Created docent training program with collaborating institutions (including Amigos de los Rios and the Huntington Library and Gardens) to educate Angelinos on the great geographic and watershed features of the southland; multiple-week training program with a cadre of docents trained as the specific deliverable, along with training manuals and complete docent training program. Roughly a dozen participants went through the docent training program, representing nearly as many institutions, with the anticipation that each trained docent will be capable of educating many multiples on the great issues of southland ecosystems.- Created a 2-acre community garden plan for the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Carson, at the Stephen White Middle School, involving a range of partners that included, in addition to the School and the City, a local non-profit and a Bay Area university; additionally, we brought together the teams for parkland revitalization. The number of directly involved participants easily included thirty-some people total, with the deliverables potentially reaching a few hundred people in the local community, as well as others outside of the community who are inspired by the model we developed.- Held an eco-agriculture conference with multiple countywide organizations at LA Trade Tech campus, with content focused on citizen-agriculture issues as well as urban agriculture points of discussion. Some forty people attended the conference, with nearly as many participating institutions from highly diverse backgrounds. We expect that the content created for and delivered at the conference will reach many more individuals as relevant knowledge is taken back to local communities through the leaders who attended. - Created the ideas, brought together the team, and initiated the work to help create critical foundations for what may have been the first eco-homeless shelter in Los Angeles. Our work focused in two areaas: 1) conceiving and creating a community garden on location; and 2) conducting energy, water, and toxic substance assessments of the property and proposing possible solutions (implementing some).
