Lets Be Ready

“Lets be ready offers newly graduated teachers, aged 18-24 the opportunity to stay in their communities and become social entrepreneurs by starting classrooms in primarily rural guatemalan mayan communities. The program provides materials, a monthly stipend for each teacher and additional training for to enhance effectiveness. The organization presents a solution to the challenge of there being too few classrooms for rural children in guatemala. In the past year, 25 teachers in 23 communities have set up classrooms preparing children to be successful in primary school. Magical classrooms trains and equips young adults to teach children, ages 4-6 in remote areas currently unattended to by the guatemalan government. The project overcomes geographic isolation and lack of educational resources by delivering a culturally sensitive, innovative guided curriculum to help children become more successful in first grade. Classes are paired with a daily healthy snack that stands to drastically reduce the impact of chronic malnutrition. A chance for all is a grassroots project where volunteers teach french language and mathematical skills to children in san luis senegal. The program is intended to reach some of the 50,000 senegalese children who are not enrolled in schools.”
