“La casa de la salud (lcs) aligns actions with its mission to contribute to the health improvement and well-being of the hispanic community by facilitating access to health services and other resources. Together with other organizations in the community, local, state and national level addressed basic needs of the hispanic community. In 2024, lcs served 672 people in events and 1,128 through phone calls. Lcs reached 230,782 through facebook, 12,155 through instagram, and 9,388 through educational events on a hispanic radio station. Lcs has been reaching out to the diverse hispanic communities through its native spanish-speaking chws, multiple communication channels that are widely accessed and trusted by the hispanic communities, and about 138 influential messengers in the latino community about the covid-19, influenza, as well as childhood immunizations vaccines (4 years of award by the cdc foundation) and other important health and wellness information. With funding from the cdc foundation, lcs produces educational materials that resonate with the hispanic communities preferences for timely and relatable audiovisual messaging. In 2024, starting in september, lcs expanded its efforts to other areas such as virginia beach, harrisonburg, and petersburg. This expansion helped broaden our work related to social determinants of health (sdoh), focusing on identifying and facilitating access to essential resources that address the basic needs of these communities. With state and local funds lcs has been increasing access to health care through referrals to safety net clinics and other community partners. Lcs has been promoting health and raising awareness of the importance of cancer screening for breast and ovarian cancer and facilitating access to mammograms. Also, licensed by the self-management resource center (stanford university) provides the evidence-based program tomando control de su salud. Additionally, we have developed our cultural competency services by training over 10 individuals as spanish-speaking community health promoters. This training enhances their ability to effectively engage with our community and address health disparities, and address health disparities.”

LCS REACHED 230,782 THROUGH FACEBOOK, 12,155 THROUGH INSTAGRAM, AND 9,388 THROUGH EDUCATIONAL EVENTS ON A HISPANIC RADIO STATION. IN 2024, LCS SERVED 672 PEOPLE IN EVENTS AND 1,128 THROUGH PHONE CALLS. LCS REACHED 230,782 THROUGH FACEBOOK, 12,155 THROUGH INSTAGRAM, AND 9,388 THROUGH EDUCATIONAL EVENTS ON A HISPANIC RADIO STATION. LCS HAS BEEN REACHING OUT TO THE DIVERSE HISPANIC COMMUNITIES THROUGH ITS NATIVE SPANISH-SPEAKING CHWS, MULTIPLE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS THAT ARE WIDELY ACCESSED AND TRUSTED BY THE HISPANIC COMMUNITIES, AND ABOUT 138 INFLUENTIAL MESSENGERS IN THE LATINO COMMUNITY ABOUT THE COVID-19, INFLUENZA, AS WELL AS CHILDHOOD IMMUNIZATIONS VACCINES (4 YEARS OF AWARD BY THE CDC FOUNDATION) AND OTHER IMPORTANT HEALTH AND WELLNESS INFORMATION. WITH FUNDING FROM THE CDC FOUNDATION, LCS PRODUCES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS THAT RESONATE WITH THE HISPANIC COMMUNITIES PREFERENCES FOR TIMELY AND RELATABLE AUDIOVISUAL MESSAGING. IN 2024, STARTING IN SEPTEMBER, LCS EXPANDED ITS EFFORTS TO OTHER AREAS SUCH AS VIRGINIA BEACH, HARRISONBURG, AND PETERSBURG. THIS EXPANSION HELPED BROADEN OUR WORK RELATED TO SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH (SDOH), FOCUSING ON IDENTIFYING AND FACILITATING ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL RESOURCES THAT ADDRESS THE BASIC NEEDS OF THESE COMMUNITIES. WITH STATE AND LOCAL FUNDS LCS HAS BEEN INCREASING ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE THROUGH REFERRALS TO SAFETY NET CLINICS AND OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS. LCS HAS BEEN PROMOTING HEALTH AND RAISING AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF CANCER SCREENING FOR BREAST AND OVARIAN CANCER AND FACILITATING ACCESS TO MAMMOGRAMS. ALSO, LICENSED BY THE SELF-MANAGEMENT RESOURCE CENTER (STANFORD UNIVERSITY) PROVIDES THE EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAM TOMANDO CONTROL DE SU SALUD. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE DEVELOPED OUR CULTURAL COMPETENCY SERVICES BY TRAINING OVER 10 INDIVIDUALS AS SPANISH-SPEAKING COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTERS. THIS TRAINING ENHANCES THEIR ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY ENGAGE WITH OUR COMMUNITY AND ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITIES, AND ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITIES. |
