The mission of the stem education coalition is to elevate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education as a public policy priority at the federal and state level through legislation, budget, and spending priorities, and education policies.

The coalition is a nonprofit organization organized principally to develop and advocate for legislation, regulations, and government programs to improve and advance science, technology, engineering and mathematics education as a national priority

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D Part XIV

“The coalition operates as a nonprofit organization as provided for in section 501(c)(4) of the internal revenue code, and therefore is exempt from income taxes. The coalition has their initial tax year of 2015 open for both federal and state filings. They have received no communication regarding these filings from federal or state taxing authorities and accordingly, no penalties or interest has been included in these financial statements. The coalition follows "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes." the generally accepted accounting principal provides detailed guidance for the financial statement recognition, measurement and disclosure of uncertain tax positions recognized in an enterprise's financial statements. The accounting principal requires an entity to recognize the financial statement impact of a tax position when it is more likely than not that the position will be sustained upon examination. The adoption of this accounting principal does not have a material effect on its financial position, results of operations or cash flows as the coalition does not believe they are taking any uncertain tax positions.”
