“Bootcamp We present life as a professional software developer in 4 weeks, introducing students to the daily workflow of building software in a professional environment. By the end of class, our participants are on their way to being super users with the command-line and leave literate in the basics of JavaScript after building several apps and games in Node.js and HTML5. They can debug an app and problem solve on the Internet, and know where to find the resources to continue learning on their own or in teams. They also learn the soft skills that make them a great team player. Immersion Our Immersion program brings students to the level of full-stack software engineer after three months of focusing on nothing but writing software for 11 hours a day, 6 days a week. We partnered with the best code school in the United States, Hack Reactor, to bring their highly successful education model to New Orleans. 99% of graduates out of this program earn employment as software engineers within three months of graduation, earning on average $105,000 in the San Francisco bay area. Hack Reactor educates more software engineers every year than Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley and the California Institute of Technology, combined. Alumni work in a variety of mid- to senior-level engineering roles at industry leaders like Google, Adobe, LinkedIn, Uber and Amazon. This three month immersion experience is more rigorous and time-consuming than most educational programs or full-time jobs The three month course teaches students how to think like a software engineer, build production-grade web applications, and utilize a broad array of computer programming tools. Throughout the program, we work together with students' job search in mind. By graduation, they have a solid portfolio of projects, tons of technical interview experience, a personal site, LinkedIn profile and resume. Armed with a highly employable skill-set by the end of the course, at over 900 hours of instruction, students are prepared to enter the Louisiana workforce at average salaries of $60,000. Teacher Training Learn to teach our world-class Bootcamp material at your school with one of our teacher training workshops. Teachers come for a crash course on the tools we use on a daily basis so they can implement our curriculum in their learning centers. We generally work with high school teachers but allow anyone who wants to learn Studio Spark We are prototyping our Studio Spark program over 2016 by taking on a select number of client projects, wherein graduates of our bootcamps, those who've continued to demonstrate the desire to go deeper into the field, are brought onto teams as interns and mentored by professional software developers to implement project requirements. Access to high-speed internet is essential for effective education, civic engagement and economic opportunity. Unfortunately, New Orleans is one of the most digitally divided cities in America. Many of our students lack both the hardware and internet access needed at home to continue their course work.We address the hardware issue by empowering qualified students with laptop ownership. In regards to internet access we're working with other organizations to craft an effective solution to help increase broadband access across New Orleans.”
