Mission

Crafty mart supports local artists, makers and artisans by providing opportunities to learn how to refine and expand their creative businesses through education and markets. Crafty mart hosts handmade markets for local and regional makers and artists to sell their work and to act as a stepping stone for their small creative businesses. Crafty mart also offers unique programming to these artists to help them expand their businesses. Crafty mart works hard to advocate for the importance of shopping local and handmade in our community and to spotlight and elevate the artists and makers we support. We work hard to build important, meaningful and authentic partnerships with likeminded organizations and businesses to impact creative networking for our community, shoppers and makers.

The organization accomplished the following during 2019: -successfully held 3 handmade markets (spring, summer and fall) that hosted about 150 makers -hosted approximately 6,000 shoppers at our markets -overall, supported 250 small businesses with markets, networking opportunities, diy workshops and educational programming -hosted our 2nd annual creative catapult event -the creative catapult event supported 7 makers and awarded 1 of those makers with 2,000 to expand their handmade business. -creative catapult hosted 100 community members to learn more about the 7 participating makers and what they do, and voted on their favorite idea while enjoying a light meal -established a crafty closet that encourages our community to donate unused craft supplies and is open to the public to shop for what they need to complete their crafty project -hosted 4 diy workshops that were open for our community to participate in -forged a new important partnership with local organization, bounce innovation hub, to further our mission of supporting local makers with a makerspace and additional supplemental programming and equipment -acquired a 7,000sq ft event space on the 2nd floor of bounce for community events -networked our maker session participants with 10 local professionals in tax, marketing, branding, customer service, etc. -hosted maker 6 sessions that supported 50 handmade businesses and covered topics: building a business plan, booth building, photography, branding, taxes, marketing and social media -offered free headshots to our creative community -awarded 3 scholarships to the maker sessions programming -developed and expanded our mission, vision and values and strategic goals during 2020, the ohio maker box program which supported 3 regional handmade makers in a curated box that was shipped to shoppers doors. The maker sessions and the 5th annual creative catapult, went virtual in response to covid. We did not host any in person markets. We successfully held a virtual holiday market in partnership with 2 other markets with an online catalog.
