“Yuva Pragati Inc is a small non-profit organization. Our major activity is organizing and conducting Youth Wellness Camps at schools in remote areas of Gujarat state in India. Most of the schools are orphanage type of boarding schools where lack of primary healthcare results in poor education. Our efforts at improving primary healthcare results in better education as well. We work with cooperating schools that are need of this type of healthcare. We continuously recruit new medical and non-medical volunteers to add to our pool of medical doctors. These volunteers provide the healthcare service at the Youth Wellness Camps. They have a very satisfying hands-on experience that also allows them to identify other needs at the schools they visit. Hence we have small infrastructure projects and also scholarship programs for needy and deserving children. Over the years we have observed excellent progress in the health and education of the school children. Yuva Pragati is completely volunteer based and there are no paid workers. Medical and non-medical volunteers travel to India at their own expense and provide service without any remuneration. Local expenses in India are incurred by the local NGO and they are reimbursed by Yuva Pragati. Bulk of these expenses are for medicine and other supplies for the Youth Wellness Camps as well as local transportation. Our volunteers pay for their own food and hotel. At the time of registering our organization, Yuva Pragati Inc has drafted bylaws document which includes how the organization is to function, including rules and regulations and procedures for maintaining records. Most of our business is conducted over the telephone and internet. Regular meetings are conducted by telephone conference. Bank records are maintained by the President and the Treasurer. Grants funds are transferred by bank wire. Almost all of our business with the schools and organizations in India is conducted by email over internet. All documents and records are filed in PDF format on our personal computers. Legal documents which are in paper form are maintained by the executive committee members - President and Secretary. Our donations are mostly small from volunteer donors in USA and their friends. For a larger infrastructure project one or more donors may give the entire amount. Yuva Pragati maintains records for all contributions received and grants disbursed. All grants receiving NGOs in India are required to provide documentations to indicate their charitable institution status. They also provide certification of their legal status to receive foreign funds. All funded project details are documented. Annual visits also provide opportunity to review these projects in person. Yuva Pragati Inc is New Jersey based non-profit registered in 2014.”
