“Under Accounting Standards Codification(ASC), Subtopic 740-10, Income Taxes, the System must recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is "more-likely-than-not" that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the applicable taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the consolidated financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. ASC Subtopic 740-10 also provides guidance on derecognition, classification, interest and penalties on income taxes and accounting in interim periods and requires increased disclosure. There were no uncertain tax benefits identified at December 31, 2019 and 2018. The System does not expect the total amount of unrecognized tax benefits to significantly change in the next 12 months.
