Carolinas community care llc (carcc) was organized for the purpose of owning and operating long-term acute care hospitals (ltachs). Carcc's long-term mission is to provide effective, value-added post-acute, care services that complement the continuum of patient care provided by not-for-profit and publicly governed hospitals in the us. During the year, carcc owned and operated three hospitals, crawley memorial hospital inc. Dba continuecare hospital at kings mountain, a 28 bed ltach in kings mountain, north carolina, crawley memorial hospital inc., dba continuecare hospital at university, a 35 bed ltach in charlotte, north carolina and mercy restorative care inc, a 40 bed ltach in charlotte, north carolina. Ltachs provide a venue of care for patients that require extended lengths of stay in an acute care setting. Typically, lengths of stay will average 25 days or longer.
