Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

Leap innovations commenced operation as a separate 501(c)(3) entity on march 1, 2015 when it terminated its fiscal sponsorship relationship with the chicago community trust. As leap was under the fiscal sponsorship of chicago community trust in the prior year all programs listed in form 990, part iii, line 4 are new in the current year as leap is now operating as a stand alone not-for-profit organization.

Form 990, Part IX, Line 11G

Consulting fees: program service expenses 187,761. Management and general expenses 109,646. Fundraising expenses 12,180. Total expenses 309,587.

Form 990, Part IX, Lines 5 & 7

All expenses except payroll are for the period from march 1, 2015 to june 30, 2015, after leap terminated its fiscal sponsorship relationship with chicago community trust. Payroll is recorded for the full fiscal year as leap, even under fiscal sponsorship, was responsible for its own payroll.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Leap follows the guidance in the fasb codification topic related to uncertainty in income taxes which prescribes a comprehensive model for recognizing, measuring, presenting and disclosing in the financial statements uncertain tax positions that leap has taken or expects to take in its tax returns. Under the guidance, leap may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is "more likely than not" that it is sustainable, based on its technical merits. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position should be measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement with a taxing authority having full knowledge of all relevant information. Leap believes that it has appropriate support for the positions taken on its returns.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0LEAP FOLLOWS THE GUIDANCE IN THE FASB CODIFICATION TOPIC RELATED TO UNCERTAINTY IN INCOME TAXES WHICH PRESCRIBES A COMPREHENSIVE MODEL FOR RECOGNIZING, MEASURING, PRESENTING AND DISCLOSING IN THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS THAT LEAP HAS TAKEN OR EXPECTS TO TAKE IN ITS TAX RETURNS.
