IRS990/Desc0Fix California Challenge - Innovate Your State extended the successful Fix California Challenge to accept entries for ideas on ways to improve the State of California through 2016. Although no ideas were selected as winners, the platform continues to be a resource for the public to participate and organize around ways to improve government. Innovate Your State also wrapped up the issuing of the OpenGov Grant Reimbursement program, one of the 2015 Challenge's winning ideas. 13 total counties were awarded grants to get access to the financial transparency platform, providing over 10 million Californians with access to their county's finances.

In 2016 the organization partnered with the Mayor's Office for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to bring the event to Sacramento. Attendance doubled from 125 to 250 people for the 2016 event and 40 companies were showcased for their great work. Innovate Your State is currently planning for the 2017 event with support from a corporate sponsor and Foundation as well as partnership with local San Jose government.
