“PART I LINE 13 The amount listed on line 13 is entirely comprised of fees and stipends paid to teaching or resident artists -- PART I LINE 16 Other expenses - In 2019 the organization incurred the following other expenses Classes and events supplies and expenses - 10721 Marketing general administrative expenses - 5780 Donations to other organizations - 300 Fundraising expenses - 677 PART II LINE 24 Other Assets in 2018 include Furniture Equipment of 985 other assets in 2019 include Prepaid Expenses of 675 and Furniture Equipment of 842 PART II LINE 26 Total Liabilities In 2018 include 6346 in prepayment for services and 342 in accrued payroll expense Total Liabilities in 2019 includes 295 accrued payroll expense -- Part III STATEMENT OF PRIMARY TAX EXEMPT PURPOSE - Art on Sedgwick is a community-based art center in Old Town Chicago whose central focus is to level racial and economic disparities through a culture of shared creative spaces and collaborative initiatives Using art as a platform for dialogue we catalyze connection and creative agency through artist residencies classes projects and events Our work draws on Chicagos diverse world-class arts community to inspire a shared imagination for a vibrant and inclusive neighborhood -- Part III STATEMENT OF PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS - 2019 Projects with Resident Artists Moment in Time Over 80 students from three local grade schools worked with resident artists Cecil McDonald Jr Kwabena Foli and Andy White to create tableaux and poetry on themes of self-care and community The works were presented at a show in our gallery and at a permanent outdoor exhibit at Manierre Elementary More works from the project will be exhibited outdoors at Franklin Fine Arts in 2020 -- Black Like Us Artist Black Like Us Artist Pierce I Cruz created portraits of over 30 participant children who live at Marshall Field Garden Apartment Homes to celebrate their unique identity Neighbors of the community including local children helped create the patterns and colors in the background These patterns connect with each other in an infinite loop to emphasize Were here we matter-- Expanded Partnerships with After School Matters and Lookingglass Theatre Company made it possible to extend our teen Art Impact program through the school year starting fall 2019 A new partnership with Chicago International Puppet Theatre Festival brought a performance workshop and opportunity for teen leaders to the community center at MFGAH We expanded programs in the Community Center at MFGAH including dance partnering with Dance Peace All About Dane drama arts and Tumbling for Success -- Cultural Impact -- Following an AP article about our work two national television networks NBC and CBS spotlighted our work In April Chicago Ideas highlighted our work for the 77 Project as a change-making idea for the Near North neighborhood In December our founder was invited to deliver a TEDx Talk about her experiences and observations at Art on Sedgwick”
