Statement of Primary Exempt Purpose The William Anderson fund was established to expand advance studies in the field ong Disaster and hazard Research and Mitigiation within the Minority communities with the initial focus on increasing the number of African American scientists, practitioners, and policymakers. Hazard and Disaster Mitigation is designed to make communities in the U.S. and around the world safer in the face of hazards and disasters of all kinds, from naturally-occurring events and accidents involving technology. The fund seeks to enssure that these activities, which aim to reduce the impacts of future disasters and preparing for, responding to, and recovering from these kinds of events take into account the needs of communities of color, women and children.

Last year for the month of December 2015, the fund held a Student Council Retreat to create an allicance with the Board and students in order to address issues as expanding the field and how can the board and the students can influence each other in the field of Disaster and Hazard Research and Mitigiation for minorities. This activity help to crate goals, both long term and short term as well to develop strategies and plans of action for the next few years. this workshop had 6 participants.
