“Exempt purpose:California Rhythm Project enriches our community by promoting the art of tap dance, preserving its unique history, and developing tap dance and other percussive dance forms that celebrate human creative expression. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: We taught an intermediate/advance tap class centering on historic choreography for teens and adults in the tap dance community (6 class meetings) and an adult beginning tap class at a local studio (44 class meetings). We performed 5 educational concerts at 4 elementary and middle schools for a total of approximately 1400 students, teachers, and parents. We were guest artists for a high school dance concert and taught 2 tap dance workshops to 30 students at the high school. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: We taught a series of 4 body percussion workshops at an elementary school for approximately 125 children. We performed two free community concerts of TapRoots, celebrating the contributions of African American tap dance artists. One was performed at at Lincoln Military Housing (65 attendees), and one at the Salvation Army Kroc Center (100 attendees). We performed one full length artistic concert at The Vine Theater (3 shows with a total of 150 attendees).”

“We revised our bylaws to increase oversight and transparency. We removed the requirement that the CEO serve as Board President, that the Corporate Secretary serve as Board Secretary, and that the CFO serve as Board Treasurer.”
