Mission

African Technology Foundation was founded to provide the support system needed to globalize African technologies by providing access to resources that effectively address and manage the most pressing technological challenges on the continent. We achieve this through a series of activities that include capacity building, knowledge distribution, access to global networks, mentorships and diaspora engagement activities.We are committed to promoting cultural and educational interchanges that enhance the capabilities of entrepreneurs in the region. We will empower entrepreneurs by bridging knowledge gaps and providing access to best practices for improvements within African innovation ecosystems including, but not limited to universities, entrepreneurial hubs and government agencies.ATF will be based in the United States and will conduct a significant portion of its activities here. ATF is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes.

African Technology Landing PadOur Technology Landing Pad will be a joint effort with other Silicon Valley stakeholders to promote the acceleration of the incubation and acculturation of African startups and enterprises. We are committed to the global positioning of African technologies, and our approach is guided by a unique combination of a rich Silicon Valley network and a strong team of mentors and startup advisers.Our US network will include incubation partnerships with the leading nonprofit technology incubators, and with the entrepreneurship departments of participating US universities that have a focus on Africa (e.g. GSBI at Santa Clara University and SEED at Stanford University).African ConnectionsThrough our African Connections initiative, we plan to offer unique opportunities for African startups to interact with global stakeholders across multiple sectors and industries. With our stage agnostic support services, we plan to uncover relevant industry convergences between African and Western actors and facilitate the development of bilateral trade and technology platforms. We also plan to advocate Public-Private-People-Partnerships (PPPP) and local initiatives that center on empowerment of entrepreneurs that rely on strong diaspora networks.Our African Connections platform will include relationships with US based Chambers of Commerce that have interests in Africa, US nonprofit organizations that are active on the continent and government institutions and agencies that are proponents of international collaborations.Lab2MarketLab2Market is our technology transfer program that will support innovation and commercialization of African technologies through university collaborations. Through this program, we seek to promote intellectual property and industry research alliances for African research universities and technology labs that are seeking to develop multidisciplinary and turnkey technology solutions through technology partnerships with US universities.Our Lab2Market initiative will promote tech transfer and collaborative research partnerships with leading US universities on areas such as frugal innovation, product development, intellectual property development and protection, and technology commercialization.$0$105,698
VenturePATHThrough our VenturePATH program, we plan to facilitate the understanding of technology venture plans by African companies, which plans are relevant to the Silicon Valley market and the global innovation ecosystem. The program will include supporting and promoting incubation and acceleration partnerships where African startups can study business model validation. We will also encourage the development of unique learning tools and support services to facilitate investor engagement. We plan to work closely with African diaspora professionals within US business schools as well as African Student Organizations and their affiliated Africa Business Clubs to provide the most relevant tools and resources for the successful execution of innovation projects.African Business Leadership ProgramWe also plan to support the growth and development of the next generation of Business Leaders in Africa. Through our unique diaspora affiliations, our diverse mentor networks and our rich connections with business leaders in Silicon Valley, our leadership programs will be designed to raise the bar on business management in Africa by localizing and contextualizing leadership best practices from the most innovative regions of the world.
