“Due to the overwhelming impact to the music industry related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we focused our effects on helping professional musicians through our Musicians Emergency Fund. The arts industry is among the most affected by COVID-19 due to mandatory gathering limits, cancellations and closures. In spring 2020, we started an assistance application process for professional musicians affected by COVID-19. By the end of 2020, our Musicians Emergency Fund distributed aid to seven individuals for COVID-19 assistance and two battling cancer. In all, we gave $3,500 to help these professional musicians and their families. The aid given in 2020 is the largest amount we have given in our program history. All of our 2020 concert series, professional musicians personal development, and music education programs were postponed due to the COVID-19 restrictions and mandates. We made the decision in the best interest of the health and safety of our patrons, participants, supporters, volunteers, and community partners. We are doing our best to help curb the spread. Our plan is to research alternative programming options (virtual, digital) to continue our mission until it has been deemed safe to return to in-person programming. We will continue our fundraising efforts to support professional musicians during the COVID-19 pandemic and seek sustaining funds to keep the organization running and ready for business when the pandemic is no longer a considered a public threat.”
