“Primary Exempt Purpose Quenedit Dance Theatres mission is to enrich lives through dance by providing our pre-professional company opportunities to develop as leaders and dancers, perform for audiences in local, national, and international venues, and engage the San Antonio community through exposure of the Performing Arts. -- Program Accomplishments The Nutcracker Ballet, a two-act classical ballet production, has been staged annually since 2014 by San Antonio Dance during the holiday season and continues showcases the organizations commitment to artistic excellence and cultural tradition. This beloved holiday masterpiece requires meticulous choreography, elaborate costuming, and emotionally resonant performances to bring the enchanting story to life for audiences of all ages. As part of our mission to increase access to the preforming arts, our outreach to childrens organizations has expanded to provide over 800 underprivileged children the opportunity to attend a live preformence of this seasonal classic, many for the first time. Founded in 2017, the San Antonio Dance Festival is a multi-day spring event that celebrates the depth and diversity of dance. The Festival features original cheorography by resident and guest artists, preformed by a range of dancers with professional and pre-professional backgrounds. The Festival presents a broad spectrum of dance styles - from classical ballet to contemporay, jazz, and cultural forms - and includes live music in select preformances, enhancing the vibrancy of the experience. The event draws audiences from Bexar County and surrouning areas and is a platform for promoting cultural appreciation, artistic collaboration, and public engagement in the arts. -- Summer Program - In the summer of 2024, San Antonio Dance launched a new summer program designed to offer dancers continued training, mentorship, and performance opportunities outside the traditional academic year. The program culminated in a fully staged performance of The Fairy Doll, a whimsical ballet featuring lively ensemble choreography and storytelling. This production provided students with valuable stage experience, nurtured artistic development during the offseason, and introduced audiences to a lesser-known but charming ballet repertoire. The Fairy Doll performance was attended by local families, dance enthusiasts, and community partners, supporting our goal of year-round arts engagement.”
