FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A:

Lift promoted west lakes as a viable investment area for a foundation seeking to invest a high quality early learning center and participated in feasibility studies as well as ongoing meetings to discuss the partnership and structure of early learning center. Lift also invests in the mvp families program, which supports parents and children as they work towards their academic and life goals.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4B:

As a first step in this process, the wlp set out to survey each of the businesses, not only in the lift focus area, but within the greater communities of west lakes. Lift provided its survey results as a starting point for the west lakes partnership street teams to use as the basis for creating an engagement survey. In addition to the engagement survey and business association concept, lift also facilitated an ongoing roundtable discussion with several of the local business owners, leading to individual follow-up meetings. From these one-on-one conversations, the team was able to dive deeper into understanding the specific challenges they face - ranging from lack of capital to a desire for formal business training. Lift sponsored two (2) local businesses to participate in an in-depth assessment through a partner program which has identified individualized strategies for training, mentorship and networking. An additional small non-profit business was sponsored to participate in a social innovation & entrepreneurship program at a local college. This program offers an extended opportunity for mentorship, networking and education.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4C:

Lift facilitated a housing charrette for our second phase of housing, affordable senior residences. In addition, we have incurred costs associated with the planning and pre-development of phase two.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

LIFT Orlando is a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is exempt from state income taxes under similar provisions in the Florida Income Tax Code. LIFT Orlandos wholly owned subsidiaries were incorporated under the Florida Revised Limited Liability Company Act and are considered disregarded entities for federal and state income tax purposes. Therefore, no provision for income taxes has been included in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. The Organization identifies and evaluates uncertain tax positions, if any, and recognizes the impact of uncertain tax positions for which there is a less than more-likely-than-not probability of the position being upheld when reviewed by the relevant taxing authority. Such positions are deemed to be unrecognized tax benefits and a corresponding liability is established on the statement of financial position. The Organization has not recognized a liability for uncertain tax positions. If there were an unrecognized tax benefit, the Organization would recognize interest accrued related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in operating expenses. The Organizations tax years subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service generally remain open for three years from the date of filing.
