Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission is to rescue, foster, transport, and find homes for unwanted, abandoned, and abused dogs in the Carolinas. Halfway There Rescues goal is to pull at risk pets from over-crowded shelters in North and South Carolina, place them in temporary foster homes and ultimately find them permanent, loving homes. We also offer a community outreach program that provides free veterinary care, including spay/neuter, for those who cannot afford services for their pets.

“The president reviews the form. Note on AMENDED 990: We, Halfway There Rescue, are submitting an amended 990 for the year 2021, as the state of SC rejected our original 2021 filing. There was a prolonged illness and then death in the family of the accountant who was helping us with the original preparation of the 2021 report, and so we did it ourselves to the best of our ability. After SC rejected the filing, a volunteer with our rescue who is an accountant by trade, offered to assist in the refiling with SC, and also stated we should refile with the IRS so our reporting is consistent. She corrected the errors that were flagged by SC on the originally-filed 990. That is our reason for re-filing, and we ask that any fees or other monetary assessments related to the re-filing be dismissed. Thank you.”

We also offer a community outreach program that provides free veterinary care, including spay/neuter, for those who cannot afford services for their pets.

There was a prolonged illness and then death in the family of the accountant who was helping us with the original preparation of the 2021 report, and so we did it ourselves to the best of our ability. After SC rejected the filing, a volunteer with our rescue who is an accountant by trade, offered to assist in the refiling with SC, and also stated we should refile with the IRS so our reporting is consistent. She corrected the errors that were flagged by SC on the originally-filed 990. That is our reason for re-filing, and we ask that any fees or other monetary assessments related to the re-filing be dismissed. Thank you.
