“Part III - Program Accomplishments 2020 began with the opportunity to support the annual Windy25 Gold Star race and dinner honoring the 18 fallen service members they lost April 6, 2005, in Afghanistan. It is a time to bring the families of the fallen together with the surviving teammates to laugh, cry and find healing through their shared memories and experiences. In May 2020 we executed our annual Virtual Memorial Mile honoring five fallen soldiers. SFC James Grisson, SSG Timothy McGill, SSG Liam Nevins, SGT Joshua J. Strickland, and our very own SSG Michael H. Simpson. It was a gift to share the stories of these men and how their families honor them today through our social media and other publications. Our sponsors were Caliber Home Loans and Military Families Magazine. We also made our annual commitment to the Hands On Children's Museum to support the Gold Star Museum program they helped us create providing children's museum memberships for Surviving Families. June of 2020 brought a new opportunity with a publishing company. Elisely provided youth master classes and coached 6 children, Veteran and Gold Star families, to become authors. Six books were written by the children and published by Elisely. It encouraged them to be creative, and for some, provided an outlet for them to share their military life journey. July of 2020 we conducted a fishing trip for a group of veterans on the east coast. They were able to connect, find healing and begin their transition into civilian life. Unfortunately, we lost one of our loyal volunteers due to a parachute accident. SGM Christopher Callan will be missed and remembered always. August 2020 we launched a partnership with A Joyful Life supporting female veteran transition. From August through December, we were able to provide 4 female veterans a plan and tools to transition into civilian life. Jennifer Ballou, founder of A Joyful Life, is a retired Army MSG, a Gold Star Spouse and the spouse of an active-duty soldier. September 2020 we got to sponsor a "Homeschool Makeover" for a veteran family through Moving with the Military. This family was given a clean, stress-free space and the devices to conduct school for the whole family. They are all full-time students! We were also able to help sponsor the training of a service dog through Labs for Liberty for a Gold Star Family. October 2020 we conducted a Gold Star dinner to bring families together to share memories and celebrate their loved ones. November 2020 was a month of supporting veterans! From coaching to luncheons to yoga retreat training we rounded out the month by sponsoring a recumbent bike for a wounded warrior. Mark needed this bike to recover from a stroke. This bike helped him walk again. December 2020 One thing we don't realize is the effects military service has on the whole family. We were proud to provide a medical tub to a special needs family. This tub gave a military child the opportunity for her mind and body to calm down due to the effects of her medical condition. This also gave Mom a moment to breathe while Dad was deployed and she was caring for three special needs children, homeschooling them without the assistance of community resources due to the pandemic. Thanks to Sons of Liberty Spirits, we were also able to provide care to a local surviving family during the holiday season. As an all-volunteer organization, The Unquiet Professional is grateful for the support of our volunteers and our donors. We could not provide the level of service and support without them. Thank you for believing in us and trusting our programs and services are conducted with the utmost care and integrity.Thank you to 3 Gun Memorial Foundation for honoring Mike and donating $10,000.”
