“Accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the Organization and recognize a tax liability if the Organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would fail to be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service. As discussed above, the Organization is exempt from federal income taxes and management believes the Organization has not engaged in any activities that would disqualify it from tax-exempt status or incur a tax obligation for the year ended December 31, 2016. The Organization believes their estimates are appropriate based on current facts and circumstances. The Organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.”

During 2016, the corporation added Community Care Hospice (37-1495725) and Hospice of Central Ohio (31-1059756) to provide these tax-exempt organizations additional resources to improve the quality and efficiency of hospice services, pallative care, and related programs. These organizations were added through affiliation agreements whereby the corporation became the sole member of the supported organization. |
