FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The mission of the central six development council, serving as region 4 of the governor's office of workforce development, is to create a 21st century workforce that is proactive, responsive, and results driven; supports the region's diverse population and employers; and, provides quality job opportunities in support of a vibrant regional economy.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

In 2024, central six alabamaworks advanced its mission of strengthening workforce development in the greater birmingham region through sector-based training, employer engagement, and expanded career pathways. A major focus was healthcare, where we launched an initiative to train 1,200 individuals and place 1,000 of them into quality healthcare jobs. We also laid the groundwork for expanded efforts in manufacturing and technology, continuing to bridge the gap between jobseekers and employers while promoting long- term economic mobility in our community. A highlight of the year was the inaugural worlds of work (wow) event in october, which brought together 60 employers and more than 6,000 students for hands-on, interactive career exploration. This innovative program gave local youth meaningful exposure to high-demand industries and strengthened the regional talent pipeline. Together, these initiatives demonstrate our continued focus on innovative workforce solutions, collaboration with employers, and the creation of lasting opportunities for individuals across central alabama.

IRS990/Desc0IN 2024, CENTRAL SIX ALABAMAWORKS ADVANCED ITS MISSION OF STRENGTHENING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT IN THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM REGION THROUGH SECTOR-BASED TRAINING, EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT, AND EXPANDED CAREER PATHWAYS. IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1IN 2024, CENTRAL SIX ALABAMAWORKS ADVANCED ITS MISSION OF STRENGTHENING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT IN THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM REGION THROUGH SECTOR-BASED TRAINING, EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT, AND EXPANDED CAREER PATHWAYS.
