Project healthy community (phc) is a health and wellness nonprofit with the mission of promoting the well-being of the detroit community by providing school(and community) based nutrition, fitness, and mental health education and services for detroit kindergarteners through seniors.
Project healthy community (phc) is a health and wellness non-profit organization with the mission of promoting the well-being of the detroit community by providing school (and community) based nutrition, fitness, and mental health education and services for detroit kindergarteners through seniors. Examples of programming are: - phc's mobile pantry is a collaboration with gleaners community food bank and forgotten harvest. The program provides approximately 100 worth of groceries to 600 families monthly and has been a staple of support in the northwest detroit community. Volunteers from the community as well as the rock family of companies, dte, and madonna university have helped sustain the program through the years. - the pe-nut and linking lessons programs, funded through the michigan fitness foundation, incorporate physical activity and nutritional education into their in-class interventions, actively engaging students in their health over the 5-8 week-long program.
