Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

The year started with a 40-day march which followed the iowa path of the proposed bakken pipeline, a.k.a. Dakota access pipeline. The 400-mile march stretched from the southeast corner to the northwest corner of iowa, covering the 18 counties affected by the proposed pipeline. We knocked on doors of landowners in the path and held town-hall style meetings in the communities along the route to educate about the impacts of the proposed pipeline on the water, land, and climate, culminating with an earth day rally. Daily blogs and social media posts educated the public about the experiences that the landowners are facing. After the march, conversations continued with landowners. In the fall, a second march was held in france, starting november 11 at normandy beach traveling 200 miles to paris, ending november 28 where the cop21 paris climate conference was beginning. Partaking in the march were two people, ed fallon and steve martin, that were on the 2014 great march for climate action. The purpose of the walk was to bring attention to the importance of the climate and cop21, achieved through daily blogs and social media. Besides the marches, we asked questions of presidential and other candidates about their views on climate action, taking advantage of frequent visits of candidates due to the iowa caucuses. This had several purposes: to let potential leaders know the importance of this topic, to educate the public about climate action, and to inform the public where each candidate stands.
