| Leadership Youth We were able to provide in person programming though March 2020. We then moved to a virtual platform in April. Our plans are to continue virtually in alignment with our local schools who currently are doing distance learning currently scheduled through January 2021. Hoping we will be able to return to a combination of virtual and in person in February 2021. We added 2 more program days in the second year in addition to students board service which has been well received and will continue. On these additional program days students learn of board roles and responsibilities, Roberts rules of order, how to read and understand a profit and loss statement and balance sheet, have a fine dining experience while learning dining etiquette, and lastly hear from Leadership alumni about their success both personally and professionally.Salem Young Pros Events and programming scheduled for Young Pros took place through the end of February 2020, events scheduled for March-June were cancelled due to COVID restrictions.Conversations are taking place on how to proceed. Career Connections- This event was scheduled for April 2020. No event occurred this year due to COVID restrictions and a shelter in place order. We are looking at hosting a virtual hiring fair in late spring of 2021 that could include resume review by industry, mock interviews and interviews for employment. Previous years we have helped over 1,000 Salem-Keizer and surrounding area high school students(some 10th grade, but primarily 11th & 12th graders) practice their mock interview skills at Career Connections. Over 300 business volunteers shared their time and experience by providing each student with 3- mock interviews while helping them gain confidence, provide them positive resume critique and improve their professional skills. Starbucks shared with us that they hired 17 youth from the last event! In addition to the mock interviews we had 30+ vendors who were there to share with students about local volunteer opportunities, summer internships, and employment opportunities(actual interviews for hiring). CTE & Industry Summit- Our 2020 event expanded to a multi-state invite and brought over 600 attendees to Salem, Oregon to participate in the 2 day event. This year the summit was the last event held at our local Convention Center before the state went in to a shelter in place order. For 2021 we have moved the event to a multi-day virtual platform. This will allow students, educators and industry representing CTE to be able to eliminate possible travel costs, missing any school time, and remove hard costs for our Foundation. The feedback from sponsors, school districts, and industry has been overwhelmingly positive. This change while unexpected is looking like it will open the door to much more opportunity and participation! Leadership Salem-Just as the case in many of our other programs we made it through February 2020, we have since met virtually with our participants and hope to bring this cohort back to finish some days and to celebrate them. Our plan currently for the 20-21 class is to hold our Orientation in December virtually, followed by a virtual team building and networking experience in January and return to an in person programming Feb.-June 2021. We understand that we may at any time have to stop and pivot to another direction. CTE Professional of the Month(POM)- Our programming has expanded, especially in the area of supporting career technical education (CTE). In partnership with Salem-Keizer Public Schools, the Inspire Foundation began recognizing students as CTE Professionals of the Month for their outstanding professionalism and dedication to their program of study. Through investing in the current and future workforce, we hope to contribute to a stronger community for years to come. We are exploring the possibility of including AVID student recognition as well. | - | - |
