Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
After years of planning, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce launched the Inspire Foundation in July 2013. The Inspire Foundations current programs reach over 5,000 students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, businesses, nonprofits, schools, and government agencies every year. Our community-driven organization provides all sectors and individuals an opportunity to grow and partner in the economic future of Salem. The Inspire Foundations programs currently include:Leadership Salem: In 1972 the first Leadership Salem class started, sponsored by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce. Since then, over 934 community members have participated. Leadership Salem exposes participants to the Salem community for the purposes of preparing them to serve in volunteer leadership positions. Through ten full-day sessions, participants receive a comprehensive overview of Salems opportunities and complex issues. Leadership Youth (LY) nurtures and cultivates the hidden leadership qualities that exist in all youth within the Salem-Keizer communities. Patterned after Leadership Salem, LY began in 1999 and has served 639 students total and reaches many representatives from Salems undeserved populations (see above description). LYs success is due to its engaged community partners. The Salem Area Chamber of Commerces Executive Leadership Council (ELC), which consists of 90 community leaders, financially supports LY and invites youth to its quarterly meeting to provide public speaking and networking opportunities. In addition to the ELC, another 60 organizations invite LY to serve on their boards. Salem Young Pros began in 2005, consists of over 900 members and is the main network in Salem for young people (20s and 30s) to connect with others, gain leadership and business skills, and connect with the larger Salem community. This program provides networking opportunities and a Leadership Development Series which covers issues like: professionalism, networking, entrepreneurship, time management, public speaking, meeting facilitation, and leadership. College and Career Readiness Workshop for Educators: This four-day intensive workshop for educators, counselors, and principals, broadens their understanding for preparing student for college by introducing them to various careers, resources and industries. The Inspire Foundation took on this important program in 2009 after it was eliminated from the Salem Keizer Education District's budget. This workshop serves 30 educators per year.College and Career Fairs: The Inspire Foundation offers two fairs each year reaching approximately 3,000 students and parents. The fairs provide students and their families with access to college and career information. The Inspire Foundation took on this important program in 2010 after it was eliminated from the Salem Keizer Education District's budget. The CTE & Industry Summit, Sponsored by Maps Credit Union serves as a platform to promote interaction between Students, Educators, and Industry. In February 2017, the one day event was a local and by invite only. In 2018, the event will expand to a 3 day summit with an Oregon wide invite and in 2019 it expands to a 4 day summit with a national invite. This year the Summit welcomed over 100 Career Technical educators, over 100 students in CTE programs, and an additional 100+ that included honored guests, administrators, faculty, counselors, advisors, state agencies, business, industry, sponsors, volunteers and community-based organization leaders. Our partners: Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, Keizer Chamber of Commerce, Salem Keizer Public Schools, Incite, Oregon Department of Education, & Chemeketa Community College.
