All staff and contractors are required to sign and disclose conflicts under the policy, annually. Any reported conflicts are previewed by the executive director and the board. Financial transactions are reviewed by the contract accountant who refers transactions that may have possible conflicts of interest to the executive director or the board. The board makes a determination if the conflict gives rise to corrective actions.

Harvest pack's packing events are an incredible way to highlight community, generate positive energy, and foster pride in working together for the benefit of others. The events are also fun. Meal packing can be done by anyone ages 5 through 105. They are dynamic, energetic events with music, laughter, and high spirits. Packing events can also be deeply moving and meaningful. During a meal packing event, a group of about 100 volunteers can package up to 20,000 meals. In 2021, 4,252 volunteers donated their time during packing events. The packing events are critical to the success of bringing healthy food to every table.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Harvest pack is a non-profit organization committed to bringing healthy food to every table. We utilize volunteers to pack meals that have been formulated by food scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by a malnourished child's body and mind. Our meals offer all nine of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition. On january 1, 2021 there were 118,128 finished meals in the warehouse. In 2021 harvest pack packaged 977,103 meals and donated 632,369 meals locally and 270,894 meals internationally. There were 191,928 meals in finished meals in the warehouse on december 31, 2021 scheduled to be distributed in 2022. Limited access to fresh produce is a major problem within communities suffering from food insecurity. Low- income communities living in food deserts have limited access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. Fresh produce is a vital source of nutrients that the body needs, and harvest pack believes it should be within everyone's reach harvest pack's ratio of expenses related to program versus administrative and fundraising activities reported on form 990 is based upon its accrual basis cash revenues and expenses less cost of goods sold of 9,558. These costs are reported directly against the related receipts from sale of food inventory. Donated services are also not recognized as program expenses for form 990 reporting purposes. The financial statements functional expense breakout is reported on a gaap basis with cost of goods sold and the value of donated services factored in resulting in 89% program, 10% management and genereal, and 1% fundraising. Like so many businesses that harvest pack partners with, harvest pack continues to be affected by covid-19. Many organizations that had planned to host packing events in 2020 and 2021 postponed them until 2022. Management has deferred 47,527 of the income received for these events until 2022. While the number of events remained lower than prior to 2019, the funding for events was much higher than in 2020, and 2022 is projected to exceed recent years' business levels. In response to covid-19, the organization continued to use strict guidelines for community safety during meal packing events. This included social distancing, face masks, gloves, face shields, and sufficient air flow. The spread of covid-19 continued to prevent large numbers of people coming together. Thus, our event volunteer numbers were reduced.

PACKING EVENTS CAN ALSO BE DEEPLY MOVING AND MEANINGFUL. DURING A MEAL PACKING EVENT, A GROUP OF ABOUT 100 VOLUNTEERS CAN PACKAGE UP TO 20,000 MEALS. IN 2021, 4,252 VOLUNTEERS DONATED THEIR TIME DURING PACKING EVENTS. THE PACKING EVENTS ARE CRITICAL TO THE SUCCESS OF BRINGING HEALTHY FOOD TO EVERY TABLE.

WE UTILIZE VOLUNTEERS TO PACK MEALS THAT HAVE BEEN FORMULATED BY FOOD SCIENTISTS TO PROVIDE A RICH SOURCE OF EASILY DIGESTIBLE PROTEIN, CARBOHYDRATES, AND VITAMINS NEEDED BY A MALNOURISHED CHILD'S BODY AND MIND. OUR MEALS OFFER ALL NINE OF THE ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS REQUIRED FOR COMPLETE NUTRITION. ON JANUARY 1, 2021 THERE WERE 118,128 FINISHED MEALS IN THE WAREHOUSE. IN 2021 HARVEST PACK PACKAGED 977,103 MEALS AND DONATED 632,369 MEALS LOCALLY AND 270,894 MEALS INTERNATIONALLY. THERE WERE 191,928 MEALS IN FINISHED MEALS IN THE WAREHOUSE ON DECEMBER 31, 2021 SCHEDULED TO BE DISTRIBUTED IN 2022. LIMITED ACCESS TO FRESH PRODUCE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITHIN COMMUNITIES SUFFERING FROM FOOD INSECURITY. LOW- INCOME COMMUNITIES LIVING IN FOOD DESERTS HAVE LIMITED ACCESS TO FRESH, HEALTHY, AND AFFORDABLE FOOD. FRESH PRODUCE IS A VITAL SOURCE OF NUTRIENTS THAT THE BODY NEEDS, AND HARVEST PACK BELIEVES IT SHOULD BE WITHIN EVERYONE'S REACH HARVEST PACK'S RATIO OF EXPENSES RELATED TO PROGRAM VERSUS ADMINISTRATIVE AND FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES REPORTED ON FORM 990 IS BASED UPON ITS ACCRUAL BASIS CASH REVENUES AND EXPENSES LESS COST OF GOODS SOLD OF 9,558. THESE COSTS ARE REPORTED DIRECTLY AGAINST THE RELATED RECEIPTS FROM SALE OF FOOD INVENTORY. DONATED SERVICES ARE ALSO NOT RECOGNIZED AS PROGRAM EXPENSES FOR FORM 990 REPORTING PURPOSES. THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FUNCTIONAL EXPENSE BREAKOUT IS REPORTED ON A GAAP BASIS WITH COST OF GOODS SOLD AND THE VALUE OF DONATED SERVICES FACTORED IN RESULTING IN 89% PROGRAM, 10% MANAGEMENT AND GENEREAL, AND 1% FUNDRAISING. LIKE SO MANY BUSINESSES THAT HARVEST PACK PARTNERS WITH, HARVEST PACK CONTINUES TO BE AFFECTED BY COVID-19. MANY ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAD PLANNED TO HOST PACKING EVENTS IN 2020 AND 2021 POSTPONED THEM UNTIL 2022. MANAGEMENT HAS DEFERRED 47,527 OF THE INCOME RECEIVED FOR THESE EVENTS UNTIL 2022. WHILE THE NUMBER OF EVENTS REMAINED LOWER THAN PRIOR TO 2019, THE FUNDING FOR EVENTS WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN IN 2020, AND 2022 IS PROJECTED TO EXCEED RECENT YEARS' BUSINESS LEVELS. IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19, THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED TO USE STRICT GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY DURING MEAL PACKING EVENTS. THIS INCLUDED SOCIAL DISTANCING, FACE MASKS, GLOVES, FACE SHIELDS, AND SUFFICIENT AIR FLOW. THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 CONTINUED TO PREVENT LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER.
