“Form 990 is prepared by an external cpa firm using information provided by the organization. The form is reviewed by the organization's chief executive officer and board of directors prior to being finalized.”

“No officer or director of the corporation ("corporate official") shall participate in the decision making process on any matter in which such corporate official or a relative of such corporate official has any interest. Upon learning that the board of directors is involved in a matter in which a corporate official is an interested party, the corporate official shall notify the chairperson of the board and shall immediately withdraw from any further consideration or discussion with the board of directors or other officers or employees of the corporation with respect thereto. Upon receipt of notice from a corporate official that such corporate official has an interest in a matter in which the corporation is involved, the chairperson shall remove such corporate official from any deliberation and not furnish or provide him or her with the information pertaining to that matter which is furnished to the other directors; except to the extent that such information is generally available to the public at large. At the time a person becomes a board member such person shall complete and submit to the chairman of the board or president a signed statement which affirms such corporate official has (i) received a copy of these bylaws, (ii) has read and understands the conflict of interest policies contained in these bylaws, and (iii) has agreed to comply with such policies.”

“Volunteers include our 5 board members as well as multiple mentors. These mentors help provide advise and guidance to our startup founders and entrepreneurs through direct one-to-one support, office hours, judging and teaching at events and instructing educational sessions.”

“Startup tucson provides comprehensive wrap-around services for entrepreneurs that include discovery & networking events, educational programming, and a free membership hub called the startup tucson network. We are also known for two of our larger regional ecosystem building events, tenwest festival of innovation and ideafunding. In response to covid-19, startup tucson created and adjusted programming and was partially virtual and partially in-person in 2021. The following programs were provided: -startup tucson's flagship education program is startup fundamentals that begins with labs 101, a virtual monthly workshop where entrepreneurs will develop a business plan using the lean canvas. After startup labs 101, companies are eligible to complete the rest of fundamentals 102-105 + demo day. Startup fundamentals provides entrepreneurs with training on essential and evidence-based strategies such as customer validation, marketing, and financial and business planning. -startup coffee, our monthly networking and speaker series, was moved to a virtual format in 2020. We had over 600 attendees over the course of the year, with an additional 10,800 views of the videos after the fact. Startup coffee returned in-person in late 2021. -startup tucson continued a second round of remote tucson, a program offering a package of perks, benefits and community connections to eligible remote workers who move to and work remotely from tucson, arizona for at least one year. -with funding from the usda farmer's market promotion program, startup tucson launched food forward, a program specifically designed to help support entrepreneurs launching and growing food businesses. In 2021, startup tucson ran the first cohort of the recipes for success food accelerator, as well as built several e-commerce websites for food businesses. -with funding from the eda, startup tucson opened it's sprint challenge program. This program included e-commerce and prototyping online masterclasses, pairings with statewide mentors and use of the newly built launch lab that includes prototyping and media spaces and tools. -with funding from the eda, startup tucson also launched it's new rising arizona investor network to support local entrepreneurs that want to learn about investing in local diverse founders. -ideafunding was held virtually and local companies competed for $45k in funding. The digital event was well attended and highlighted a lot of the local companies that showed innovation during the pandemic.”
