Mission

Life After Justice (LAJ) fights to free the wrongfully convicted and provides support in reclaiming their lives after justice. Created by exonerees, the majority exoneree-led Board of Directors' approach is rooted in the knowledge, expertise, and understanding from the lived experience of its leadership.

Life After Justice battles injustice for the wrongfully convicted and supports them in reclaiming their lives after justice. We battle injustice by focusing primarily on non-DNA evidence cases of wrongly convicted individuals, enabling us to create new laws or set new precedents that can help undo an unjust law and the ill-conceived legislation that created it. We support exonerees through our advocacy work that addresses how states and the federal government manage exonerees' compensation. Finally, we empower exonerees to take charge and reclaim their lives through our mental health and wellness program and our technology Power-Up Pack and access to technology training.
