IRS990/Desc0Even though Covid-19 prevented us from performing surgical campaigns for six months of 2020, the year ended with a record 565 sight-restoring surgeries. During the six months of lockdown, we focused on eye team infrastructure and introduced a new van and trailer. When the lockdowns were lifted, we did back-to-back surgery campaigns till the end of the year. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in Africa, and every surgery performed rlepresents a blind person having their sight restored.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0The Covid 19 lockdowns prevented us from performing surgeries for six months, but it did not prevent us from sharing the gospel. We added two new evangelists to the team and did outreach in many rural villages. Once the lockdowns were lifted, the ministry team traveled with the eye team to minister to those impacted by eye surgeries. Most of those we meet have never heard the gospel.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Of all of our programs, our agriculture program was affected the least during the Covid 19 pandemic. We trained 19 students in modern organic agriculture - the highest number of any year. We also built up our infrastructure by completing our teams housing and the construction of a new road. These 19 students received life-improving agriculture training that will not only impact their own lives but that of their surrounding communities. These studdents also received frequent discipleship training from our ministry team leader. Not all of our students are Christian, but devotional time and discipleship are required of all students who enter our program.
