Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

In 2023-2024, ceasefirepa continued to educate the public, engage partners and mobilize the public to address gun violence. Our efforts included highlighting successful violence intervention programs throughout the commonwealth funded by resources and increasing access for other nonprofits. In february, we hosted the 100th mayor: restoring safety forum with whyy news, and billy penn-it was a discussion among candidates on how they plan to approach policing and the gun violence epidemic as mayor. We also continued to build support for approaches to reduce ghost guns, ultimately leading to an atf rulemaking that ends this threat to public health. We ramped up our efforts to organize the public health community through our new partnership program. Our leadership institute continued to build public knowledge about drivers of violence and increase civic participation. We mobilized new partners in the public health and faith community.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Ceasefire pa is exempt from income tax as a nonprofit organization under 501(c)(4) of the internal revenue code and accordingly, no provision for income taxes is included in these financial statements. Ceasefire pa regularly reviews and evaluates its tax positions taken in previously filed information returns and as reflected in its financial statements, about issues affecting its tax status, unrelated business income and related matters. Management believes that in the event of an examination by taxing authorities, its positions would prevail based on the technical merits of such positions. Therefore, ceasefire pa has concluded that no tax benefits or liabilities are required to be recognized.
