Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

After school and out of school programs (6 programs) 746 students served each year. Substantial improvements shown in reading and math skills. Natives count: serving k-5 students needing math recovery instruction for all races with half the class reserved for native americans. Working with six local schools, natives count provides math and reading instruction to students who are below proficiency requirements. Their school teacher or staff, based upon their math scores, recommends each student into the program. Based upon levels, the student works closely with tutors to improve math skills. Froggy reads: serving k-5 students new to the united states and to the english language. A respect for traditional languages is maintained while teaching the english skills necessary to succeed in school. Froggy reads is a reading recovery program done in small groups for ell immigrant and refugee students from five local sioux falls schools. School staff members recommend specific students to come to our programming. Native youth club: serving k-5 students to celebrate and increase awareness of cultural traditions, history, symbolism, and language of all native americans. Enrollment is open to all students that attend school in sioux falls and the surrounding area. Six schools utilized this program in 2019. We follow the sd dept of education, seven essential standards and understandings provided by the office of indian education. Self-defense/judo: serving k-5 students, a progressively intensive program with professionally qualified instructors teaching both the physical skills and the mental discipline integral to the practice of this martial art. Students are also encouraged to explore various other methods for conflict-resolution and emotional-response control. This class is open to all sioux falls elementary students. Eight schools utilized this program in 2019. C.a.r.e (cultural appreciation, respect, and education) camp: serving k-5 students in the summer with 4 bi-weekly academic sessions offering unique cultural experiences, recreational opportunities, nutritional education, artists in residence and field trips. Ethnic youth day: serving typically ell middle schoolers (typically 6th graders) for a one- day event with very special activities and guests developed to enhance the students' enthusiasm for stem (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills and careers. Schools that we provide transportation from: jane addams, hawthorne, rosa parks and cleveland.

The multi-cultural center of sioux falls offers many other programs to assist in providing charitable, educational, scientific, and religious services and opportunities that will, in part, further a better understanding of, and for, the many different cultural heritages of the citizens of sioux falls. Some of the programs include cultural celebrations, workforce development program, ethnic communities/law enforcement program, educational presentations on cultural and diversity training, adult english language classes, other language classes, career closet, housing partnerships and the coliseum.
