Opera in the Rock Inc

Founded in the spring of 2012 by young singing professionals, opera in the rock is arkansas's only professional opera company and is a designated professional company member of opera america. The principal purpose of opera in the rock is the production of main stage professional opera, a continuing opera review series (opera on the rocks) and outreach performances throughout the state. The corporation fosters and promotes opera as both entertainment and education and gives local and regional performers the opportunity to use their talents and further their artistic careers. Our efforts support the state's artistic communities by collaboration with other arts organizations both onstage and behind-the- scenes while providing mentorship and performance opportunities for young opera singers and arts professionals. The mission of opera in the rock (oitr) is to enrich the cultural life of arkansans by presenting professional opera utilizing local, state and regional artistic talents and to build future audiences through outreach presentations for students. Since our founding in 2012, we have produced successful performances of three operatic favorites: the magic flute, la boheme, and the barber of seville, as well as several shorter works. Oitr fosters and promotes opera as both entertainment and education. As a reflection of our foundational belief that opera is an artform for everyone, oitr is committed to diversity in performance roles, governance, and outreach.
